The first Alien: Isolation trailer surprises us all by actually looking good.
With the lack luster 2010 reboot of Aliens vs. Predator and the utter disappointment that ended up being Aliens: Colonial Marines last year, the iconic sci-fi horror monster has seen better days. However, Isolation looks surprising frightening and not just another video game reboot. The trailer focuses on atmosphere and claustrophobia and noticeably lacks any sigs of firearms. This is what the franchise needs.
What made the last few games so bland and boring was their focus on heavy combat with levels designed around monster closets. It seems the people at Creative Assembly, the developer are behind the game, are attempting to bring the Alien franchise back to it’s sci-fi horror roots. And while expectations are being kept in check due the last few games in the franchise, Isolation looks promising.
Alien: Isolation is due out late 2014 for PC, Xbox One, 360, PS4 and PS3.
